Hey, y’all! I’m Tabitha Underwood.
Ever since I was a child, I have loved 3 things:
The Bible

I grew up in church, which meant I grew up hearing cherry-picked verses and learning about cardboard heroes. It was only when I became an adult and began actually reading the Bible for myself that I realized there’s a whole lot more to it. In this blog I look at the whole Bible –the good, the badly, and the sometimes ugly.
Great Britain

I have been an Anglophile since high school, when I was cast in the school play, Hound of the Baskerville. Moving to England was a dream come true. It also changed my life, because it was there that I learned women actually played a rold in Christian history. That was something else I never learned in church, and that I have dedicated my life to fixing.
Airplanes

Or cars for long road trips. I love traveling to new places and meeting new people. Part of what I enjoy is meeting my sisters in Christ. I have had the privilege of worshipping in several different countries, languages, and cultures (not to mention, denominations). Outward expressions may change, but the truth of God’s Word remains eternal.
I am not afraid of failure; I am afraid of succeeding at the things that don’t matter.

Tabitha Underwood has a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Nazarene Theological Seminary, where she was graduated magna cum laude1. As an autistic person, she is passionate about exploring how the Bible and ancient Christian faith can speak to those with bodily issues.
Charli is both multi-denominational and multinational. Born in Texas, she moved to England when she married her English husband. Although she came from a Baptist background, she learned to love the liturgical tradition when she joined her husband’s Methodist Church. (You can read about Charli’s spiritual journey here.) They now reside in Texas and attend a Nazarene church, which is part of the holiness tradition.

- Left: An Orthodox bible open to John 20, the story of Jesus appearing to Mary Magdalene after His resurrection. The Orthodox Church reveres her as the “apostle to the apostles,” not as a fallen prostitute. They also revere other women saints such as Macrina, the sister of St. Basil the Great and St. Gregory of Nyssen. According to Gregory, his sister was steeped in the Bible from an early age. As an adult, she scolded Basil for getting all puffed up after acquiring a fancy education in Athens! Fortunately for Christianity, Basil took Macrina’s rebuke to heart and cultivated humility after that.

Courtesy of Claire Ridgway, https://www.theanneboleynfiles.com/ Contrary to the stereotype, Anne was a devout Christian. She championed certain reforms for the Church, such as translating the Bible into English. (One of her first acts as queen was to promiently display an illegal English bible in her quarters and encourage her ladies to read it.)
